My Little Guys

So I'm tired of having my little gripe session about my birthday be the thing that pulls up on our blog so time for something new... so here are some pictures of the boys that I took today. Enjoy! :)

What's in a Birthday?

So what's the big deal with birthday's? I mean it's just the day you were born. Big deal. So you're one year older. Whatever... I still feel like I'm 18 sometimes. It's not like you look older on this day automatically. You age over the many days that pass. To some people I look 24, to others I'm apparently in my mid thirties with my blond hair. Whatever. It's just a day like any other day. Right?

I keep telling myself this cause I spent my birthday in a lot of pain, sick as a dog, and unconscious. Not exactly the way I wanted to spend my birthday. Oh, was perfectly fine the day after and since. You wouldn't know that I was on my death bed Monday, cause the rest of the week I've been fine, but that is not when my birthday is. Monday was. I didn't get to do anything I wanted to do. I wanted to go to Disneyland and get in free. Didn't happen. Instead I daydreamed while in fetal position that I was there. I wanted to get food from my favorite fast food place and eat it and enjoy it. Didn't happen. Instead I puked my guts out in the toilet. Blah! I HATE throwing up. I wanted to play with my kids. Didn't happen. Instead I was asleep for more than half the day! I wanted to eat the cake my husband and kids made for me. Didn't happen. Instead I laid in bed with a migraine unable to move.

I for some reason make a HUGE deal about birthday's. I feel like I totally got ripped off!! To me a birthday is your day. You get to do what you want. Celebrate it the way you want. Eat what you want. It's your day and you get it your way. Yesterday I was totally proven WRONG! I also learned yet again... Life is not fair! :P I mean come ON! 365 days of the year and I have to be sick on MY DAY!!!

However, I did realized how blessed I really am. Besides Monday, I have my health. I have the best husband who came home half way through the day to take care of me and the boys, and loves me even when I irritate him. :) I have the cutest little boys who make everyday interesting and fun, and love me even though I'm flawed. I have wonderful friends and family who remembered my birthday and wish that I had a great day, even though it was one of the worst. Oh well that's what is nice about birthday's... they come around every year. So I guess there's always next year. :)

The Chunk

I took Pierce in for his 6 month check up and well... they pretty much confirmed that he is a big baby. So his nick name we have for him is totally appropriate. "Chunk" or "Chunkers" or we just tell him to do the truffle shuffle. :) (I know we are a bunch of nerds.)

He weighs 24 pounds, and he is 29 1/4" long, which puts him in the 99th percentile for his age. It's not surprising to me though he is in 18 month clothing and people at stores think he is 9 months to a year old. :)

While I'm being the bragging mother... he's doing well on eating solids, he rolls over and scoots everywhere. OH, and best of all, (and I know I'm jinxing myself by putting this out there in the universe) he is sleeping through the night. :) Yea!

Rub-A-Dub-Dub....

Three boys in a tub! :)

Oops!

I really shouldn't be laughing about this still, but it's funny to me.
The other day I as vacuuming the living room. Now Jovin runs out of the room with his hands over his ears when I bring the vacuum out. He's never liked it. Mayer is okay with it he thinks it kind of neat. Pierce really doesn't know what to think right now. I'm just glad he doesn't cry like Jovin did at that age.

Well Pierce was in the exersaucer and Jovin was in his room sitting on his bed with his hands over his ears waiting for it to all be over. Well I THOUGHT Mayer was in the kitchen playing with toys. So I'm vacuuming the rug and I bring my hand back and SMACK! I hit Mayer in the head with the handle on the vacuum. I didn't know he was behind me. I hit him hard too. You know you throw your weight around to push and pull the vacuum. I knocked him flat on his butt and he just looked at me all wide eyed and didn't know what to do. So I turned off the vacuum and picked him up. He hadn't started to cry yet cause I was laughing my head off. Now Cor says I always laugh when someone gets hurt. I don't believe it, but the main reason I was laughing so hard about this was that in my head I kept saying, "I hit my kid with a vacuum! I bet no one has ever done that. What kind of mother am I?" After I laughed for a while Mayer did too until the pain sunk in then the laughing turned to crying. So if Mayer grows up and has memory problems or walks funny we'll know that it was the combination of me and the vacuum cleaner when he was 1 1/2 years old. :)

Our Favorite Jovinisms

Here are a couple of things that Jovin has done or said that put a smile on our face and made our day, so we wanted to share them so that they may put a smile on your face too. :)

This was one morning where Jovin was the first one up and he came to Cory's side of the bed and had the following conversation.
Jovin: "Are you awake Daddy?"
Cory: "What do you think?"
Jovin: "I THINK you're awake..." :)

There was a Fast Sunday a couple of months ago where Jovin was really restless. He really wanted out of Sacrament meeting and to go to nursery and play with the toys. Well since it was Sacrament meeting on a Fast Sunday people were getting up to bear their testimonies. We were about half way through the meeting and one of the Brothers ends his testimony like everyone else "Amen" and Jovin thought it was the end of a prayer so he says "Amen, okay let's go!" and gets up to leave. We had to sit him back down and explain to him that is how people close their testimonies during Sacrament meeting on Fast Sunday and it wasn't the end of a prayer. We told him that he would have to sit down for a while longer. Jovin's response was "AWW CRAP!" really loud, and sat down hard on the bench, right during another testimony. The people that were sitting around us got a kick out of it. (btw, he learned "aww crap" from me.) :)

The following is a conversation between Cory and Jovin at Halloween.
Cory: "What does candy corn smell like?"
Jovin then takes a big sniff of the candy corn and says, "tasty!":)

One night while I was at mutual Cory was putting the boys down for bed and the lights were out. Jovin proceeds to freak out. Cory asks him what is wrong and he keeps saying that his seat belt isn't on. Cory is really confused and tells him that he doesn't have a seat belt for his bed and doesn't need one cause seat belts are only in cars. This only makes Jovin freak out more. So in the dark Cory feels around to see what Jovin could possibly be having a problem with. He notices that Jovin has his hands on his pajamas. Now these are the kind that are a one piece that have feet and you zip them up in. Jovin had his hands on the clasp that goes over the zipper at the top of his pajamas on his chest. The clasp was not fastened so Cory clasped it and Jovin immediately calmed right down. To this day he still calls it his seat belt. :)

The other day I was in the bathroom doing my hair and I could hear Mayer and Jovin doing something in the kitchen. It sounded pretty noisy so I asked Jovin what they were doing. Jovin's reply was, "something we shouldn't be doing". He was right they were both climbing on the kitchen table to stand and jump on it. At least he was honest right? Although he hasn't given me that reply since. I think he caught on that lets me know he should be in trouble for what he is doing. :)

One day Jovin was having a rough time. Mayer and Pierce were down for a nap and he was BORED! He had also been in time out a lot that day. Which means he was not a very good boy. So I was trying to get some housework done and I made some suggestions of things he could do. This was his reply...
"I don't want to play with toys, I don't want to read a book, I don't want to watch TV... I want to be naughty." :)

Utah Trip (part 4)

Jovin laying on the couch sick. He did this for 2 days. Sad looking isn't he?

The last couple of days we hung out with Cory's family and relaxed. That was nice. Although Jovin was a little sick a couple of the last days. We got to spend more time with Cory's family before everyone went home or left to visit other family. We also got to hang out with some friends we haven't seen in a long time. I'm still kicking myself for forgetting my camera for that one. :)

Cory, Mum and the boys

Family pic before we left

Another family pic before we left Jovin just had to pick his nose for it, so I'm posting it to embarrass him with it some day :)

The ride home was interesting. We went to leave and out car wouldn't start. Great omen huh? We got it jump started thanks to Mum and we were on our way around 1:30pm. We made a quick stop in Cedar City and then in St. George to pick up a hitch hiker, just kidding it was our friend Ray. After dinner we were off to Las Vegas. I was driving and I missed the sign that told us the exit to go to Phoenix (stupid huge semi driver blocking the sign!) so I was still on I-15 going to Los Angeles. Crap! So we get off and Ray calls some family that lives in Vegas for some help on how to get back to the freeway and in the right direction of Phoenix. Once we got that figured out we were on our way. Then we started to see signs saying that Hoover had bad holiday traffic and we should go through Laughlin, Nevada for a detour to Phoenix. I was NOT about to get stuck at Hoover Dam again, so I took the detour. Well I or Ray, it was late and we are still arguing about this, missed the sign or something that told us to turn to Kingman, Arizona. Crap! So I (or Ray) ended up taking us to Bullhead City, Nevada. (That's almost to the California border.) I turned around and got on the I-40 to Kingman then we finally got home around 2:30am! Whew! Even with my long detour it didn't take as long as I thought it would. We did make it safely and that is all that mattered. I'm really glad to be home now where it is warm and dry. :) We really enjoyed seeing everyone that we could on our trip. We miss you all already! :)

Utah Trip (part 3)

On the 29th we went to the Children's Museum. It was a lot of fun. The boys really didn't want to leave at all. I think Jovin's favorite part was the grocery store. He loves to go shopping with me and buy the food. So he thought it was so neat that he could do it on his own. Mayer really enjoyed the big building blocks he would pick up a shape and carry it around yelling what shape it was. Pierce really didn't care much for it, but I think that was more cause he is 5 1/2 months old and really just likes to be held and fed. :)

Utah Trip (part 2)

Mayer and Jovin enjoying to finally be in the snow

On the 27th we were with my family and we decided to go down town and see the temple lights. I think we just wanted to make a better memory than the one of two years ago and Jovin puking all over trax. :) So we wanted to go a little bit early so it wouldn't be too cold. It didn't matter, we froze. Okay let me rephrase that. I totally froze! We did end up going about an hour and a half before they turn the lights on. So after Jovin went and played in the snow and threw snowballs at us we went to Burger King and got some dinner. Yum! :) Then we decided to drive by temple square and see the lights. I was NOT going to go walking around again in the cold.
Mayer all bundled up

Pierce all bundled up. Poor kid he really couldn't move. He reminds me of the kid in A Christmas Story.

Utah Trip (part 1)

Cor, Mayer and Jovin Christmas morning

We headed up to Utah for Christmas this year. We left Phoenix around 1pm on the 23rd. After being stuck at the Hoover Dam (again!) for about an hour and taking a dinner break in Vegas we finally made it to my families house around 1:30 am. It wasn't too bad driving with 3 kids. They napped and then fell asleep in their car seats around their usual bed time. Jovin did wake up and ask to go home. Apparently we built up how much fun it would be to drive to Utah. By 8:30pm Jovin wasn't buying it any more.
We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with my family. The boys got to open one present on Christmas Eve which is as always pajamas. They all ended up with Superman pajamas. Cor and I got wii pajamas. They are pretty cool.
Cor and the boys Killpack Christmas

On Christmas morning Jovin was really excited to see all the presents and was happy that Santa had found him in Utah. We then went and visited family in the afternoon.
Christmas night we stayed with Cory's family and woke up and did breakfast and Christmas with them. It was fun and kind of nuts with all of the gift exchanges, but it was nice to have the whole family together. Jovin and Mayer really enjoyed playing with all their cousins which they kept calling their "new friends".

"On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me..."

1 embarrassing moment: Um, peeing my pants after a dance performance. I had been holding it since before the intermission. As soon as our last number was done me and my friend booked it to the bathroom back stage. Well she beat me to the one toilet. Ward Christmas Party

I just got home a while ago from our ward's Christmas party. It was pretty fun. Unfortunately Cory has not been feeling well today and he stayed home and rested. :( I feel bad he missed out on good food and fun.
I still went so that they boys could see Santa. Both Jovin and Mayer were excited to go see him. And I was not in the mood to fix dinner. :) Luckily I have some wonderful friends in the ward that helped me out with the boys during the dinner.
Then it was time for Santa. Jovin waited in line patiently and went right up with no problems. I thought I'd be smart and sneak Mayer in with Jovin and get a cute picture... Well that didn't work to well. Mayer freaked out. (keep in mind he is getting over being sick himself and has been a BIG Momma's Boy lately. Not to mention he is like every other kid that age that likes Santa on the TV and movies but freaks out when they see him in person.) So my friend put Pierce in Santa's lap since Mayer wouldn't go there and she took the picture of all of us. Yeah it was an interesting experience needless to say.
I sure felt bad for Santa... He had Jovin squirming and Mayer screaming, and Pierce trying to pull his beard off.
Oh, and to make things even funnier all Jovin asked for was a candy cane cause he saw that is what Santa was giving out to the kids. :) At least I know he got what he asked for from Santa this year.

I'm sure all of you are sick of pulling up our blog and seeing my ugly mug looking back at you. I sure am... so here are some pics of the boys until I get around to updating about our boring lives. :)

Lighter

I've been wanting a change for my look for a while now. I've always wanted to go blonde but have been too scared to try. Cory has been trying to tell me to try something a little bit different with my hair and maybe just add highlights to my color. Well I got adventurous the other day and when I went and got my hair done I asked for highlights. So the lady is washing the dye out of my hair and kind of gasps... which totally freaked me out! I of course start to thing the worst case possible... My hair fell out and I'm bald now. She reassured me that my hair was still on my head but it went a little bit lighter than I wanted.
I started to breathe again and thought, "okay so a little bit lighter would be okay. No big deal." She put the towel on my hair to dry it off and spun the chair around to face the mirror so I could see what it looked like. All I saw was blonde. I was totally speechless and those of you who know me... that's hard to do. She told me that the color would be even lighter as it dried. I almost started to panic, this was one of my fears, to be blonde and look really stupid. So she continued to dry and style my hair and the more I saw it I liked it.
I was a little bit worried about what Cory and the boys would think of it though. Cory really seems to like it, Jovin and Pierce didn't really have a problem, but Mayer wouldn't come to me at first. Cory says it was because he was groggy, but I think it was the hair.
I'm still not used to being so blonde. Whenever I go by a mirror and catch a glimpse of myself I have to do a double take cause it is so different. I LOVE it though. ;)

Halloween 2008

Well it has yet again taken me a LONG time to post something... At least something with pictures.

So for Halloween Jovin wanted to be Diego from Nickelodeon's Go, Diego Go. Mayer was Darth Vader (he wouldn't wear the hat), Pierce was a cow, Cory was a Ninjaneer, and I went as Major Margaret Houlihan. (Sorry no pic's of that I didn't look that good.)

Pierce as a cow... he didn't like the costume.

Little Photographer

Every time I get the camera out to take pictures of the boys Jovin always asks to take a picture. Well I finally let him do it. We put the strap around his neck so if he dropped the camera it wouldn't hit the ground. With just the first few pictures that he took he did pretty good. He was really excited to see that if he pushed the button whatever he pointed the camera at it would stay on the screen. You gotta love the instant gratification from digital cameras. :) Here are some of the pictures that Jovin took. :)

This last one is on here cause Jovin wanted a picture of me and him together. :) (I took this one.)

Pierce's Blessing

Well I feel like I'm finally getting caught up on things happening in our lives... just you watch though, now that I've put that saying out there in the universe I'm gonna get way behind again.

Cory blessed Pierce two Sunday's ago. The outfit was a little tight on him so I took it off right after the blessing. I then kept forgetting to put it back on him for a picture. Well here we are two weeks later and I finally did it. I'm glad I did. It was even tighter this time, I can only imagine if I had waited longer I wouldn't have been able to get it on him. :)

Here he is in all his cuteness!
