Clones

Well last night we figured out that we are pretty much cloning Cory. Cory's Mom found some pictures of Cory when he was the same age as Mayer and sent them to us. We were totally blown away. We didn't think that Mayer really looked like him or me that much, but after comparing the pictures, you might come to the same conclusion we did. We are producing a bunch of "mini Cory's".

Tag Time

Again I usually don't do tags, but when I read this on my friends blog and started to think about my answers they were pretty interesting to me and since I'm not the greatest at keeping a journal, if I do this tag then I have documented at least some of the stuff that I have done...

5 things I was doing 10 years ago:

1. I was getting ready to go on my first date with Cory. I asked him to girls choice formal our Junior year. We went to the zoo during the day, dinner was at Sweet Tomatoes and then the dance at the State Capital. (I still can't believe that was 10 years ago.)

2. Working as a checker at Ream's grocery store.

3. Hanging out with friends. Going on dates with Cory.

4. Learning Japanese.

5. Wondering where I should go to college.

5 things that I was doing 5 years ago:

1. Getting married to Cory.

2. Going to a lot of bridal showers.

3. Working at Zion's National Bank

4. Finishing my last year as a Ballroom Dance Coach at Jordan High School.

5. Going to Vegas on our Honeymoon.

5 things that I was doing 1 year ago:

1. Spending a week in the Children's Hospital with Mayer. He had rsv.

2. Tyring to get the hang of having two children.

3. Preparing for a trip to Utah to visit family.

4. Swimming in the kiddie pool with Jovin every day. It was a lot hotter last year at this time of the year.

5. Teaching a lot of Relief Society lessons.

5 things on my to do list:

1. Clean my house since my sister-in-law is coming to visit tomorrow.
2. Get Cory's presents wrapped for his birthday tomorrow.
3. Finish folding clothes.
4. Take a nap. (This is more of a wish than a "to do".)
5. Play Guitar Hero with Cory.

5 snacks I enjoy:

1. Nachos
2. chocolate covered nuts
3. peanut butter m&m's
4. apples
5. granola bars

5 Things I would do if I were a billionaire:

1. Pay off students loans
2. Get a second car
3. Get a bigger home
4. Travel
5. Save the rest for kids and retirement

3 of my bad habits:

1. Impatient (just ask Cory)
2. Hard time finishing big projects (scrapbook, home movies...)
3. the clothes may stay in the laundry basket for a day before I get to hanging them up.

5 places I have lived:

1. Phoenix, Arizona
2. Salt Lake City, Utah
3. Sandy, Utah
4.
5.
6.

5 jobs that I have had:

1. Mom
2. Administrative Assistant
3. Loan Processor
4. Customer Service Representative
5. Checker/Cashier (whatever they are called now.)

5 Things most people probably don't know about me:

1. When I put food on my plate I hate it when my food touches. I usually won't eat the piece of food that has been touched by something else. As in, a roll that has jello on it. I'll eat the roll but I'll leave the "contaminated" part on my plate.

2. I also will only eat one thing at a time on my plate. I will usually eat the veggies first since I hate veggies. Then go on to working on just potatoes and when they are gone I'll start on the roast, then the roll. I don't mix my food. Cory says I have gotten better at this since we have been married, but I don't like mixing flavors. I can't stand to watch people scoop corn, potatoes and roast all in one bite. Yuck!

3. I've always wanted to dye my hair blond... but I've been WAY too afraid to do it. I think I'd look stupid. But I still want to do it.

4. I hate the dentist. I don't like my teeth being worked on. The noise of the tools and the way they feel on my teeth drives me nuts. Plus the last time I went to the dentist he dislocated my jaw and I still have problems with it.

5. Ever since I worked at a call center I hate talking on the phone. I'm way better at email. I could type for hours about whatever. But to talk on the phone drives me nuts now. It's not that I don't like talking. Just ask Cory. I could talk your head off but, I'd just rather talk to you in person than over the phone.

Well that's pretty much it. I won't tag anyone. If you feel like doing it then do it is a pretty fun one to do. :)

Lake Powell

Two weekends ago Cory's work paid for their employee's and a guest to go to Lake Powell for the weekend. We left the boys with some very wonder friends and headed on a 6 hour chartered bus trip to Powell. The ride up wasn't so bad. It was a really nice bus. It had tv screens every couple of seats and they played movies on the way up and back.
We arrived at the hotel and had dinner and a fun couple hours of Bunco before heading off to bed. (btw, I won $20 for the most wins.) We got up early the next morning ate breakfast and got on a boat for a tour of Lake Powell. It was really nice. It took 3 hours to get to the place where we were to hike a mile up to Rainbow Bridge. I decided to say on the boat and work on my tan a little. I wasn't about to induce labor by hiking 2 miles. :) Cory said it was beautiful and by the looks of the picture it was. When everyone came back to the boat we had lunch and then took another 3 hour boat ride back to the hotel where we boarded the chartered bus again and headed on home to Phoenix. We did stop in Flagstaff for dinner.
The ride home was a little bit tougher for me at least. See when I decided to say on the boat and "tan" we then decided to stay on the top of the boat in the sun on the way back to the hotel. We both fell asleep in the warm sun. Needless to say I didn't tan I cooked like a piece of bacon! So just the tops of my legs, arms and face got bright red. Stupid sunscreen. Cory was a little pink but nothing like me. He is now nice and tan and I am pink still and peeling like crazy... (I know tmi.)
Anyway, It was a fun little trip and it was nice to get away for just one night and do something without the boys. Funny thing when the boys woke up Sunday morning and saw us home Jovin said, "You're back" and ran onto our bed. Mayer just kept looking at me and then Cory over and over again with a huge grin. Apparently they missed us a little.

Cory and I before we got on the boat and burned like bacon.

First Bike

A couple of weeks ago Jovin got his first bike. He had a friend who is a year older than him that got a new bike for his birthday so he gave Jovin his old one. Jovin loves the bike. He is still trying to master pushing the peddles with his feet to get the bike to move, but it is coming.

Afternoon in the Sprinklers

It was about 90 degrees outside the other afternoon and I decided that I would be a fun thing to see if Jovin would run through the sprinklers this year. Last year he was afraid of the water and I could only get him in the swimming pool.

He did enjoy the sprinkler very much.

As you can tell he enjoyed picking up the sprinkler and running around with it instead of through it.

Here's a video of Jovin being the tease that he is.

Mayer is 1!!

Well my little baby is not so little anymore. Mayer turned 1 yesterday. He had a wonderful day of napping, eating, and opening presents and playing with his toys. Although we had a heck of a time explaining to Jovin that the presents were for Mayer and not him.

We have also come to the conclusion that when it comes to cake and/or sweets our boys do NOT like them at the age of 1.

We gave Mayer his cupcake to tear into and all he did was poke his finger into the frosting and then turned himself around in the highchair and proceed to claw his way out of the chair while crying. Yeah, it was his party and he cried cause he wanted to.

Now I know I'm not the best cook around, but Cory said the cupcakes were pretty good, and I enjoyed them. I think Jovin did too.

Happy Easter

Well this morning was fun. Jovin was really surprised to see a bunch of eggs scattered across the living room and on the couches. He would pick one up tell us the color of the egg and put it in the basket. The he noticed that there were more eggs on the shelves, and hidden under the stuffed cow, and between Mickey Mouse's ears that he just kept saying, "look eggs, look another egg!" Mayer just played with the eggs on the floor and tried to eat the candy that accidentally fell out.

I bought the boys matching Easter outfits this year. I figure that since they are young this is the time to actually do this since they really don't care what they are wearing or the fact that they match each other. They were a hit at church.

Yep, this is how it is at our house... the younger brother picks on the older brother.

Swiper (preface to post below)

Swiper is a sly character from the kid show "Dora the Explorer". His sole purpose is to thwart Dora's exploring by "swiping" certain items that Dora needs to complete her quest. Dora can prevent Swiper's swiping by calling out, "Swiper, no swiping! Swiper, no swiping! Swiper, no swiping!" to which he replies, "Ahhhh man!" and leaves Dora unimpaired.

Media Buffs

Ang and I have a habit of quoting movies or tv shows to fit situations we fall into. For example: I will often tell Jovin, "You will go to sleep, or I will put you to sleep!" when he is being a stinker and not cooperating before bedtime. Or when I forget to tell Ang that I found her purse under a pile of Jovins toys she hollers, "That would have been nice to know yesterday!!"

Other times, when one of us needs cheering up or we're just feeling silly we'll randomly quote from something that will make us both laugh. "I am the lizard queen!" and "-Basher, do I look 50 to you? -Sure. uh.. well... from.. the neck... up.?" are some our favorites, oh, and not to mention, "Nachooooooooooooooooooo...." If you have a smirk on your face right now, then you understand our kind of humor.

We've noticed that Jovin has started picking up on this highly sought after skill of ours. He'll randomly quote the kid shows he watches throughout the day. When we watch an episode he's seen, he'll quote the characters before they say it. He loves TMBG Here come the 123's, and can sing most of the songs on his own (esp. one dozen monkeys, and the secrete life of six).

He topped it off the other day at lunch when I was reverse psycologizing him into eating his sandwich. Normally, I pick up his sandwich and take a bite out of it and that upsets him enough that he snatches it back and scarfs it down so I can't take anymore bites. But this time, as I was dramatically stretching out my hand to pick his sandwich up, he held out his hand and said, "Dadda, no swiping! Dadda, no swiping! Dadda, no swiping!" To which I had to reply, "Ahhhh man!" Ang and I then hit the floor with laughter, and Jovin smiled being very pleased with himself.

Afternoon at the Zoo

Cor & Jovin

Mayer peaking at me.

Jovin drinking from the water bottle like the "big boy" he is.

Mayer getting tired... about two minutes later he fell right asleep.

Saturday we decided that 80 degrees was a perfect temperature to go out to the zoo. It was a great. We saw most of the animals. Jovin even went to the potty at the zoo.

FYI - Jovin is pretty much potty trained now. YEA! It took a long week of spending a lot of time in the bathroom, but he has been doing wonderfully. He earned a lot of Hot Wheel cars, mini M&M's and stickers. He even went twice at church yesterday! For me it was really stressful experience, but it was TOTALLY worth it.

Ooops we did it again...

Well it's not big news to most of you but we are expecting again. Yea! We are due July 16th and I have my ultrasound on the 21st to find out what it is going to be. We have a lot of different opinions on what people think this baby is going to be this time. So you have 10 days to vote on what you think. Hopefuly this baby will be proud of what it is during the ultrasound and let us know what it is on the first try, just like it's brothers before it were. Have fun voting!

Visitors

Cory's Mum and sister (Tasha) came down on the 29th for a couple of days to visit. Here are some pictures of them and some of the things we did.

Jovin, Cor, Ang, Tasha, and Mayer (in the stroller) at the Phoenix Zoo Lights.

Like father like son.

We also went to see National Treasure, and Tasha went to the New Year's Even Dance with the Young Women in our ward. We really enjoyed having them here and bringing in 2008 with them too.

'Tis the Season

Here are some pictures from our Christmas.
Our Christmas tree. (Yes we have little kids hence the ribbon and ornaments only on the upper half of the tree.)

A very groggy Mayer but still wanting to open presents.

Jovin, Mayer and Ang opening presents.

This is what I got Cory for Christmas. It is a custom bobble head of himself. If any of you are The Office fans you'll understand. It is one of our favorite episodes and we quote the line "Yes, I'm the bobble head!" all the time. Especially now that he has an actual bobble head.

We hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and we missed you all.
