Growing Up

Okay so I've been like the BIGGEST slacker EVER about blogging lately. So here's the latest.

4 kids under the age of 4 1/2 is really hard. I'm not gonna lie and sugar coat things. It's hard. But, it will get easier. At least that is what I tell myself about 100 times a day. Okay make that 101 for today, Mayer just dumped the goldfish crackers all over the floor and Pierce just walked in them... It will get easier, It will get easier...

Anywho, I took Pierce and Tjay in for their check-ups. Doing that with 4 kids whoa! Not fun. They both needed shots, and Jovin and Mayer kept trying to get out of the doctor's office.

Pierce is doing great. He's now 20 months old and weighs, 31 pounds (93%), and is 36 inches tall (98%)! He's is talking and doing everything he can to drive Momma up the wall by pretending to not listen to what I ask him to do. He's a cute little stinker.

Tjay is doing great. He's 3 months old now and weights, 15 pounds (90%), and is 25 1/2 inches long (90%). He loves it when his brothers talk to him and he LOVES being held. He'll snuggle with you all day if you let him. :) He has the cutest smile and laugh now. He is also sleeping a good 6 to almost 7 hours at night. (Now watch I just ruined my good luck.)

Just so you know... Mayer is turning 3 this week, and loves to play on the computer and wii. Also, along with Pierce the whole pretending to not listen. Why they think it is funny. I'll never understand.

Jovin is 4 1/2 and just got glasses. He was having a hard time seeing things and tilting his head to focus. So he has joined the club of 4 eyes. :) He can't wait to start school this August either. Like Mayer he LOVES playing the wii and computer, and helping Momma whenever she'll let him. :)

Well that's it for now... Hopefully I'll be better at this. (We'll see...)

The story...

It was the 22nd of December and I once again was having stupid contractions that were about 10 minutes apart. They started around 7:30pm and continued though out the evening. I really didn't want to head into the hospital and have the off chance that it was false labor again. I didn't think I could mentally and emotionally handle being sent home again. So I sat on the couch and waited for them to stop or have more time in between the contractions. I've never gone into labor on my own, with the other 3 I have been induced and it always takes a long time to get labor going.
Well by 10:30pm I was starting to get really nauseous with every contraction that was still 10 minutes apart. I finally called the doctor and he said to head to the hospital and they'd check me out. We called our dear, wonderful friends Zane and Callie and they came right over to stay with our boys while we hopefully went to the hospital to have the baby.
We started on our way and of course Cory was abiding the traffic laws. I hate those stupid camera radar enforcement things on the freeway. I then asked, not demanded, that he speed up a little, cause the hospital was 45 minutes away.
Once we got there they checked me and I was dilated to a 3. Which is what I was the Friday before at my doctor's appointment. I was disappointed and very afraid that they'd send me home. They told me to walk around the postpartum level of the hospital for 45 minutes and they'd check me again and see if I was progressing or if they were going to send us home. So Cory and I set off on that miserable walk around the halls that we did the week before. I lasted about 30 minutes and I was getting really nauseous, so we went back and they checked me and said that I was dilated to almost a 4 now and in early labor. YEA! We didn't have to go home. So they hooked me up to an iv and they said to relax cause I would hopefully be in full labor in the morning.
Well Cory got as comfortable as he could in the chair/make-shift bed in the corner and I tried to go to sleep cause it was 2am. The nurse came in to check on me and saw that I was still awake, she asked me if I wanted some pain meds to take the edge off the contractions so I could sleep. I said sure, that would be great. She came back in and injected into my iv the meds. She told me I'd feel a little funny and then drift to sleep. Boy did I start to feel funny. See when I get heavy doses of pain meds, and epidurals my blood pressure drops dramatically, this has happened with every labor. I was so tired I didn't tell the nurse this, nor did I even really think about it. So as I start to feel funny I apparently was trying to get Cory's attention cause the nurse was gone. What I remember is telling Cory that I Love him. (Which is very true, but also a code for I'm gonna pass out. I don't like the feeling and the very first time when I was in labor with Jovin and that feeling came on I thought I was dying or something so I looked at Cory and told him that I loved him and passed out.) So Cory finally heard me and came over to me and asked if I was okay. He had no idea what the nurse had done and I was slurring my words. I kept telling him that I loved him. I apparently (I don't remember any of this...) told him that the nurse gave me meds and that I love him. Well the monitors at the time were freaking out cause my blood pressure was dropping quickly, the nurses noticed this at their desk in the hall and came running in. They told me to wake up and gave me some oxygen and some other meds to bring my blood pressure back up. Yeah, that wasn't fun. Once I was stable again Cor and I finally got to sleep around 3:30am.
At 7am they hooked the pitocin up to me and my doctor showed up not too much longer to break my water. By around 10am I couldn't take the pain anymore and I was dilated to a 6 almost 7 so I asked for the epidural. The dr came in did the epidural and left. Things were going great until I could still feel the contractions VERY intensely just up front on my tummy. I couldn't take it. So the dr came back and tried giving me more meds in my epidural... he gave me little at first so I wouldn't pass out again. So he gave me the rest of the dose to see if that would help. It did not. After 30 minutes to "give the meds a chance to work" I asked that he come back. He told me that I had a rare occurrence of what they call a "window" epidural. Where a certain nerve doesn't get numb. So my options were to deal with it, or have him take out the epidural and try again. Now I LOATHE needles, especially epidurals, but I couldn't stand the pain, (I must be a wimp) so he took it out and tried again. He got it in, but noticed it wasn't right and told me he needed to take it out and try again. So I basically had 3 epidurals... Yuck! 3rd time was a charm and I was completely numb.
I'm glad I had him fix the problem cause I wasn't dilated to a 10 until around 3pm and then started pushing. After an hour of pushing Tjay finally came out at 4:16pm. YEA!
So even going into labor on my own and with it being my 4th kid, it was still a really long labor. I'm glad that Tjay is the last and I won't have to do this ever again.
I'm grateful that Tjay came when he did, and also that I had Cory there with me. I couldn't do labor with out his help and encouragement. He was wonderful and VERY supportive. I know I'm VERY lucky to have him in my life and our boys are lucky to have him as a father. Plus we make some darn cute kids. :)

Halloween 2009

Our new ward had their "Trunk or Treat" last night. So the boys got to wear their Halloween costumes a little early this year.

Jovin LOVES to play Mario Kart on the Wii and he is REALLY good at it. So this Halloween when I asked him what he wanted to dress up as I shouldn't have been surprised that he wanted to be Mario. He then talked Mayer into being Luigi. I know it would have been more appropriate to have Jovin as Luigi since he is taller but since he is older and actually cares about dressing up as someone for Halloween I didn't push the issue.

They were a hit at the ward party. Everyone including the other kids loved that Mario and Luigi were there. Eeyore was a hit too. Pierce was just too cute as my little Eeyore. :)

Much thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Johnson for finding overalls that will fit the boys and helping get their costumes ready. With us moving and living down here in Phoenix overalls were hard to find. :)

Utah Trip 2009 Week 2

So we planned on our little trip to Utah being only a week. But, we found out our nephew was being baptized the next Saturday, and there were still some family and friends that we wanted to visit with. So we decided to stay another week. Also, I had nothing really waiting for me in Phoenix but 115F temps, and mosquitoes with bugs at our townhouse we are temporarily in right now. That didn't make me want to rush home. Don't get me wrong, I missed Cory, a lot! Cory flew home again Sunday night so he could work another 4 days of 10 hours and fly back to Utah Thursday night. (He was a great for working 3 weeks of 4, 10 hour days.) Also, thanks to our wonderful friends who picked him up at the airport and dropped him off too. :)

So this week we were relaxing and visiting friends and family some more. We got to see our nephew get baptized. (Yea for Orson!!) and then we drove home on Sunday August 1st. Only took about 9 1/2 to 10 hours. Yea! That was mostly cause from Page, Arizona to Phoenix, I apparently rode the butt of a white Lincoln Navigator. (My apologizes to whoever that was... I just really wanted to make it home and traffic was being stupid on the way home. Whoever it was, was going as fast as I wanted to be going so I wouldn't let anyone cut in between us and slow me down.) Sorry but 750 miles with 3 kids and being pregnant... You'd probably ride someones butt too if you wanted to really be home already and you were the one driving. :)

Thanks to everyone, family and friends, for taking the time to spend with us while we were up in Utah. We were grateful to get to see and spend time with everyone. If we missed family and friends, (which I know we did,) I'm sorry, we tried, but we'll have to try next time. :) Anywho... here are the pics of week 2. Enjoy! :)

Okay so I have been home from our 2 week (which was gonna be 1 week) trip to Utah for over a week now. I'm finally getting things settled and am ready to blog about the trip... I'm just gonna let ya know now... most of this will be pictures. :) Enjoy!

We drove up to Utah on July 17th and made it in about 11 hours That was with 2 stops for lunch and dinner which were almost an hour each. NO we did not go though Vegas, which means no Hoover Dam. Yea! It obviously made a HUGE difference. :) Cory flew home Sunday night to Phoenix to go back to work and the rest of us had some fun. He flew back up Thursday night. Here are some pictures of what we did that week.
